New Year Outfit Ideas

Hello again!

The countdown is on, and my final outfit idea to mark New Years Eve is for those lucky enough to be spending it on the beach (far away from where we are at the moment...oh well, not long til it's our turn).

Outfit #4
Opt for a carefree shirt dress that's easy to take off if swimming and put on again and still look fabulous. Add a statement necklace to dress it up for the party and low heeled or flat nude sandals to highlight your tanned legs while visually lengthening them. Be sure to wear stylish swimwear to complement your outfit and body shape. Accessorise with a straw cowboy hat and aviator sunglasses for a cool vibe and a practical size straw bag for the beach towel and personal items such as coral lip gloss and sunscreen.

This outfit is versatile in that it can be worn different ways that can suit various body shapes. Undo a few buttons to show off the neckline and statement necklace - a deep V-neckline is flattering for most body types.

Cinch the shirt dress in at the waist with a belt to show off the hour glass figure and give shape to the waistline for inverted triangle (hips narrower than shoulders), rectangle (shoulders, waist and hips similar width) and boyish body shapes, noting there remains shape to the bottom half of the dress to balance the overall silhouette.

Those with an oval shape (waist wider than shoulders and hips) would be best to let the dress flow over their body shape than use a belt so it doesn't draw attention to the waistline which they may be conscientious about. Let the statement necklace and open neckline, along with fabulous hat and lippy draw the eye up to your gorgeous face.

The statement necklace is also perfect for the triangle shape (shoulders narrower than the hips) by again drawing the eye upwards away from the hip area. Those with broader shoulders (inverted triangle) would be best to opt for a smaller necklace or a statement belt instead, to draw the eye downwards if conscientious about your shoulders.

The fine vertical stripes through the dress also visually lengthens and slims the body and the shirt dress style skims over, not clings, to the body.

Wishing you all a fabulous New Years celebration and 2016! Chat to you then.

New Year Outfit Ideas

Hello!

Today's outfit was styled with a New Years Eve dinner party in mind. Read on and I hope you get some inspiration :)

Outfit #3
Let a statement piece of jewellery be the hero piece of the outfit like a necklace worn with a black tuxedo jacket (for a sophisticated twist) and skinny black jeans. Wear a black lace bra or if modest, a black camisole under the jacket.

Add leopard print heels to break up the black, a teal clutch and coral lipstick for some understated colour contrast, and a statement ring.

This outfit would be best suited to an I shape (slim and boyish, tend to lack feminine curves). The fit of the jacket creates some shape by defining the waist. The black outfit visually elongates the silhouette. Opt for high rise skinny jeans for added comfort if desired.

I would love to hear from you or see your outfit pics that may have been inspired from the blog.

New Year Outfit Ideas

Hello!

Continuing on with some outfit inspiration to mark the New Year in style. This outfit is for those planning to dance the night away, fittingly titled Dancing Queen :)

Outfit #2
Spend the night in a fringe dress that's going to move and look amazing on the dance floor. Add stylish Mary Jane block heels (with comfort in mind with all that dancing you'll do) and accessorise with gold drop earrings (to complement the fringe and pattern on the dress), a statement ring, a fun black and gold Cheers bag (perfect for the occasion) and lippy for a pop of colour.

This style of dress complements an hour glass figure with the strong V neckline and skimming over but not clinging to the body shape while defining the bust and waist. The black block colour and geometric V pattern throughout the dress is also visually slimming while ending around the knees.

The knee length and V-neck could also suit a triangle shape (broader hips, narrow shoulders) with the gold trimming on the neckline, narrow straps and drop earrings drawing the eye to the upper part of the body while also visually widening the shoulder area. The dress again skims over the curves while the black block colour and V geometric pattern visually slims the body with the heels adding height.

In addition, the dress would give shape to a rectangle body (shoulders, waist and hips similar width) by defining the waistline and the V neckline is also flattering.

New Year Outfit Ideas

Hello!

I really hope you had a fabulous, Merry Christmas with your loved ones. Our days have been filled with laughter as our families catch-up and cousins play together. Off to the Victorian alps today for bike riding, swimming in the pristine river and fish and chips for a picnic lunch - cannot wait!

But first, some styling inspo for New Years Eve as promised.

Outfit #1

DINING OUT - Show off your summer glow in an elegant white V-neck sleeveless top, soft flat front trousers and statement shoes like Manolo Blahnik's in cream to visually lengthen the legs.

Accessorise with stylish silver watch, ear cuffs to add some edge, a silver clutch with some interesting detail, and red lippy for pop of colour.

This outfit is flattering to the taller hour glass figure by defining the waist and featuring tonal colours to lengthen the body shape.

The feminine V-neck vest and trousers is also suitable for an inverted triangle body shape (broader shoulders) by again defining the waistline and giving overall balance to the silhouette.

Watch this space for more outfit ideas and tips.

In the meantime, enjoy your holidays and stay safe.

Christmas Outfit Ideas

Hello!

Cannot believe it's Christmas Eve! Although I should be cleaning and preparing for the masses turning up at our place tomorrow, I feel strong in my commitment to bring you some styling ideas if you're still wondering what to wear.

Here is my last one for Christmas, then best sign off and spend precious time with the family. Watch this space for more style inspo for New Years!

Outfit #5 - Classic Nautical

Opt for a fresh nautical look with a navy striped top, crisp tailored white full length pants and white mules to lengthen the appearance of the legs.

Accessorise with a red bandana and coral lippy, star stud earrings for Christmas cheer, and a fun bag like this camera one in silver which complements blue and white.

This outfit is ideal for those with fuller hips (triangle shape) in that the pants are plain (therefore not drawing attention to the hip area) and has a slight flare giving balance to the lower half of the silhouette. The boat neck and horizontal stripes on the top draw attention to, and visually widen the upper half of the body and shoulders, which tend to be smaller in proportion. This, again, gives balance to the overall silhouette. The bandana also helps draw the eye to the upper part of the body not the hips.

My heartfelt Christmas wishes to you.

Christmas Outfit Ideas

Hello!

Continuing with some Christmas outfit ideas.

Outfit #4 - Chic in Culottes

Culottes are fun to wear but styling them can be tricky. First, try pairing them with a fitted top to keep shape to the silhouette. Opting for monochromatic colours also helps keep the look streamlined, uninterrupted, and slimming which is recommended for shorter length pants like culottes. Add fabulous nude, ankle strap shoes, again, to elongate your look and lengthen the legs. Accessorise with statement ear cuffs and wrist cuff, lip gloss for a pop of colour and a fun handbag for some Christmas cheer.

This look is ideal for those with broader shoulders (inverted triangle) as the culottes balance the bottom half of the silhouette, while the top is fitted and ties at the waist, emphasising the waistline. Unbutton the top to ensure the neckline is showing, drawing attention away from the shoulders. The ear cuffs have a similar effect by drawing the eye to the face.

Those with rectangle shaped bodies (shouders, waist and hips similar in width) could also wear this style of outfit by defining the waistline and again ensuring the top is partly unbuttoned to expose the neckline.

Stay tuned for more style inspo.

Christmas Outfit Ideas

Welcome to my blog! I thought I'd kick off with some Christmas Outfit Ideas. I have no doubt many of us have been frantically shopping for our loved ones, and planning Christmas, with little time left to contemplate what to wear ourselves on the special day. I consider it my duty to offer some style inspiration and tips if you're stuck for ideas.

Outfit #1 - The Shirt Dress

Suitable for most body shapes, this white stripe shirtdress is also great in that it's a cool colour and the vertical stripes are slimming and lengthens your silhouette. Pair it with white leggings/jeggings if cool or conscientious about your legs. Why not accessorise with a Love pendant (given there's a lot of love to share on Christmas day) and a fabulous cuff OR statement drop earrings and dress ring (but not all together as would be far too busy). Add some comfy but fabulous silver sandals for that Christmas sparkle and why not a Christmas ball handbag for some fun and pop of colour.

Outfit #2 - White Day Dress

The style of this dress is ideal for various body shapes again. For those with broad shoulders, the deep V neckline draws emphasis away while the fuller skirt gives balance to the overall silhouette. The fuller skirt is also an effective disguise for larger hips/bottom in that it falls over, not clings to the lower half. The waistline on this style of dress is great for emphasising the small waistline of those with hour glass figures while also creating a waistline for women with rectangle type bodies with no defined waist. The all white colour is also slimming. Why not accessorise with a thin black scarf tied into a bow tie for a sophisticated twist, black ankle strap heels and ear cuffs to add a little edge to the femininity of the dress. For fun, and colour, opt for a green clutch and some lippy.

Outfit #3 - Celebrate Curves

This style of dress is ideal for the more curvy, plus size woman, making her look and feel fabulously elegant on Christmas day or for Christmas dinner. The diamantes on the shoulder and open neckline draws attention to her beautiful face, along with the star diamante earrings and red lipstick, injecting a pop of colour. The dress itself skims over, not clings to the tummy or body, down to the knees. The longer sleeves give confidence if conscientious about her arms, while not being too loose to make the arms appear bigger. The darker, block colour gives a slimming effect by keeping the silhouette simple. Add stylish but understated kitten heels to keep the focus on her profile area (face and neckline) and add a star clutch for some added Christmas cheer and fun.
